Center Point offers a growing array of specialized programs and services to support the treatment continuum and to respond to unique client populations with special needs.
Marin Employment, Treatment, and Training (METT) Project: Under a grant from the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), Center Point has recently implemented the comprehensive METT project to assist TANF (i.e., Temporary Assistance to Needy Families) eligible and other hard-to-place clients transition successfully from Welfare-to-Work. While vocational services have always been an integral part of Center Point's treatment continuum, and the cornerstone of re-entry services, this new program expands our vocational services from a component of treatment into a major program in its own right. The purpose of this project is to demonstrate innovative ways in which difficult-to-employ individuals can be transitioned from welfare dependence to employment.
Education, Training and Consulting Services
Center Point offers educational, training and consulting services designed for a variety of audiences. Prevention-oriented education and training groups provide individuals and families with information on the impact of substance abuse. Consultation and training assist both private sector companies and public sector agencies seeking help identifying and responding to workplace substance abuse problems.
Medical Clinic: Primary Healthcare and Mental Health Services
The Clinic is a licensed, low-cost medical clinic that serves the needs of participants in our treatment systems as well as the local community. Certified for CMSP and Medi-Cal, the Clinic also has a pharmacy/dispensing license. Clinic staff provide primary health/mental health assessments--and primary medical care--to approximately three hundred (300) participants in Center Point's residential programs annually. The Clinic offers primary care medical evaluations and infectious disease screenings for diseases that typically co-exist with chronic substance abuse, and follow-up treatment if required. Psychiatric evaluations and services are available for co-occurring disorders. By providing simple access to medical and mental health services, the Clinic makes a significant impact on Center Point's ability to motivate clients and retain them in treatment.
Vocational Rehabilitation
The overarching goal of Center Point's services is to prepare participants for self-sufficiency, including employment, abstinence, and freedom from criminal behavior. Center Point emphasizes vocational services that enable participants to independently support themselves and their families. Vocational services include pre-employment services (i.e., individualized assessments and plans; pre-vocational skills development and job readiness skills, e.g., resume development, social and interpersonal skills development, interviewing skills, etc.; education and job training; vocational counseling; and job placement) and post-employment services with aftercare and on-the-job-follow-up support to reinforce job retention.
