Avenal State Prison - Substance Abuse Program (Ca)

Center Point has provided rehabilitative services for criminal justice populations since 1971. The Agency has developed a system of care that utilizes the Therapeutic Community treatment concepts and cognitive, behavioral interventions. The primary goal of the SAP is to reduce the incidence of substance abuse relapse and recidivism among participants. In addition, the SAP promotes positive social behavior that will enable the participants to exhibit satisfactory conduct within the facility and on parole, leading to successful integration back into the community through further participation in a community based substance abuse program.  To realize this outcome, the SAP offer services that are gender responsive, comprehensive in scope, and have sufficient duration and intensity so that the participants are prepared for release, and have developed the skills, knowledge, and ability to avoid substance abuse relapse and recidivism.

San Francisco County Jail

Under a contract with the San Francisco County Sheriff’s Department, Center Point provides substance abuse education and treatment services, transition planning, and case management services to male and female inmates at the San Francisco County Jails. Men’s services focus on core treatment issues including substance abuse, violence intervention and domestic violence prevention, pre-employment and life skills development.

Women’s services include gender responsive addiction treatment, trauma and abuse services, life and parenting skills education, and re-entry and discharge planning.  Through the Women’s Re-Entry Center the Agency also provides housing and employment counseling and coordinates referrals for additional services throughout San Francisco.
